A Birthday Week

Our sweet Miss Abby celebrated her birthday today....again. We celebrated last week in Disney because we knew there would not be any extended family to celebrate with today. Her birthday dinner at Disney was at Cinderella's Gala Feast at 1900 Park Fare. What more could a little girl ask for than for Cinderella (AND cousins!) to be present at her birthday celebration?!!

The whole dinner was fabulous. The step-mother and step-sisters were a hit with everyone.

Grandpa even got in on the fun when he was chosen to dance with one of the sisters during the waltz!

The step-mother quickly decided that he was not a 'suitable' partner (I think the age difference might have had something to do with that!) and so she recruited my brother to finish the waltz with her daughter.

After all of the characters visited our table, we ate dinner. The food was great! I had read reviews saying that the food was just ok, and that the characters were what made the experience. However, we were very pleased with both food and characters....AND they did a great job with our large group. Abby opened her gifts there at the dinner. It was hilarious watching her open them with the wicked step-mother peering over her shoulder! (Yes, she is actually hugging the box. Mean mommy that I am, I wouldn't let her take the doll out while we were at dinner!) :)

Today she wanted to go to the mall to spend the money that was burning a whole in her pocket. She chose 2 new webkinz....the penguin and the gray cat (thanks Mimi, Papa, and Grandma M.). After that we came home and made her cake together. That was the only thing she insisted on the whole day....she wanted to help make the cake.

Before dinner, she received the news that her greatest wish for her 8th birthday had come true. She has a new cousin that shares her birthday. Baby Sophia arrived one hour early of sharing the exact same time of birth as her older cousin. We can't wait to meet her!!

The evening was filled with friends, pizza, cake, ice cream, and a movie. All in all, I think it has been a great birthday for her!

Disney's The Lion King

As if we haven't had enough Disney this week!! Michael called yesterday to say that he had been given four tickets to see The Lion King at the Atlanta Civic Center. Seeing as how it is taking me a little longer to recover from our recent vacation, we decided that this would be a good opportunity for a daddy/kids date night (and some quiet, down time for me!). The kids and I have the opportunity to see several musicals and productions on stage throughout the school year, but Michael is rarely able to go with us. I think this was a good chance for him to do something like that with them. They had a BLAST! They all loved it...even the boy!

Joining the Blogging World!

Well, here we are. We've been talking about this for a year...and we're finally blogging!! We're at a point in our lives where 'time' seems to be a recurring theme. We are waiting for the right time for changes at home, work, and in our family. At this point, we are waiting. (Don't you love that word?) But, even in this time of waiting, we feel confident that God is preparing us for such a time as this. We thought that blogging would be a good way to invite you to join us as we wait to see what God has in store for us in this next chapter of our lives.
